Despite its simple, slim design, the Flindt Bollard is no weakling. In fact, it has been subjected to – and passed – the toughest anti-vandal tests, winning the highest classification. In choosing the design and materials, Louis Poulsen focused on the ‘threats’ that Street and park illumination units typically face in public spaces.

The light aperture in the Flindt Bollard can allow optimisation of the experience of both the design and the light distribution in  considerations of both aesthetics and energy-efficiency. The project was launched in 2011 and has featured several phases.

The use of two LED light sources optimises the light emission, and on account of the design of the light slit, the illumination is directed out to the sides at an angle of >180°. This results in the fixture playing an active role in the light experience as a whole because it illuminates itself.

The bollard itself is to make a positive contribution to the urban environment and blends in well with natural surroundings and surface materials.
